It has emerged as a popular central Florida community because it offers generous lot sizes, an active lifestyle and big community amenities with a small-town feel. Del Webb’s Spruce Creek Country Club has a rich and colorful history. In the early 1970’s Monarch Properties acquired 930 acres and built an 18-hole golf course, a small clubhouse and several model homes. After several years of development, construction ceased in 1974 and the property sat untouched until 1996 when it was purchased by Spruce Creek Development Company. The original community center was demolished and replaced with a new clubhouse. In 1998, Del Webb purchased the property along with several adjacent parcels, making Spruce Creek Country Club into a 1,604-acre community. After acquiring the community, Del Webb made notable improvements that included remodeling the clubhouse, adding numerous amenities and increasing lot sizes. Del Webb also introduced 15 new single-family home models and later added more than a dozen additional models throughout the development of the community. Construction of Spruce Creek Country Club was completed in 2007. There are now over 5,000 residents and a wide variety of pre-owned resale homes available for sale.
